SINGAPORE - Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah's wedding reception is currently ongoing, with over 2,000 guests in attendance, the Straits Times reported.
His marriage solemnisation to 30-year-old arts management executive Ms Sheena Akbal took place earlier at Muslim Delights at Luzerne Building, which is a rooftop wedding venue in Bendemeer.
The 33-year-old singer-songwriter and his wife were both decked in white, with Taufik sporting a traditional Malay wedding attire.
Besides the bride's and groom's family and friends, select members of Taufik's fan clubs from Singapore and Malaysia were invited to the wedding, the same report added.
Taufik initially revealed his planned nuptials on March 7, but kept his wife's identity under wraps. Three days later on March 10, he uploaded a photo of the couple on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.
"I've always been private about my personal life but these past few days, I have been asked by so many friends and media about who my other half is...Please meet Mrs #awakkatmane to be, Sheena Akbal...", Taufik said on his social media accounts.
#AwakKatMane (a Malay slang for where are you) is the title of a song on Taufik's album, Fique.
Taufik said in an earlier statement that he was glad to have "finally found the special someone."
"Going forward, I hope that my passion for work and my family can co-exist beautifully together," he added.
