Perfectly imperfect: Georgia May Jagger

Georgia May Jagger, 23, is thoroughly unapologetic about the way she looks. Since entering the modelling world at age 15, the youngest daughter of model Jerry Hall and musician Mick Jagger has fronted numerous campaigns with her signature pout, parted slightly to reveal gapped front teeth.

The British model, who has worked for established brands such as H&M, Chanel and Vivienne Westwood, is often lauded for expanding the fashion industry's rigid notion of beauty - though she says she never intended to make a statement.

"Growing up, having perfect teeth just wasn't important. I wasn't raised to think that the only thing that mattered about me was the way I looked or that everything about me should be perfect," says Jagger, who was recently in town to officiate the opening ceremony of jewellery retailer Thomas Sabo at VivoCity.

She adds that even while she was in school, she never wanted braces. "I saw my friends struggling with their braces and having to floss at every lunch break at school. I figured it's hard enough being a 14-year-old without having to deal with that."

Having famous parents, Jagger, who has three siblings, knows she is often "assumed to be a brat". However, these comments do not bother her as she prefers to invest her time in other interests such as photography, which she studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

"I have a Nikon FM2 which I use to shoot film. I like the surprise of seeing how my roll turns out after 36 snaps," she says.

"I take pictures of people, mostly girls. Recently, I have been doing a lot of in-camera double exposures, so I end up with shots of nature layered with portraits of my friends."

She may have the lookof a movie star, but Jagger is more intrigued by what goes on behind the camera rather than in front of it. Unlike good friends and fellow British models Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevingne, she says she is unlikely to venture into acting.

In fact, despite having a supermodel mother, she says posing and pouting never really came naturally to her.

"It was quite an awkward thing because I started out really young. I was just 15 and, at that age, no one is really comfortable with themselves," she says candidly.

"Even now, there are times when it still seems weird. There are still moments when I go, 'Oh my goodness, what am I wearing, what am I doing?'"

When she is not spending time around a camera, Jagger, who is dating model and musician Josh McLellan, likes to cook.

"I cook a lot of English food like roasts and mash potatoes. Recently, I've been experimenting with cooking some Thai food, but I'm not sure if it's going very well," she says with a laugh.
