Philippines wins Miss Tourism Queen of the Year

Filipina Leren Bautista, won the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year on Thursday night in Malaysia.

India, Iceland, Lithuania, Uganda won the other titles, the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International said in its official Facebook page.

The titles were:

Dream Girl of the Year International - Miss India

Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International - Miss Iceland

Miss Tourism Global International - Miss Lithuania

Miss Tourism Metropolitan International - Miss Uganda

Leren, who was earlier crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas 2015 Asia Pacific International, bested 56 candidates at the Marriot Putrajaya Grand Ballroom in Kuala Lumpur.

This was the third time that the Philippines bagged the title, with the first one courtesy of Sherylle Santarin in 1996 and Raquel Uy in 1999.

Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International recognises women who uphold beauty, good moral character and poise. It was previously called the Queen of the Year International, and the first-ever pageant held in Kuala Lumpur in 1993.

2015 was a year of the Philippines in beauty pageants. Recently, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was crowned as Miss Universe 2015. Angelia Ong bagged Miss Earth and Ann Lorraine Colis won Miss Globe 2015.
