It can be difficult to balance comfort and style when choosing the perfect pair of heels.

However, it became an even taller order for the finalists in The New Paper New Face 2015 Top 20 because they were picking out shoes for future shoots and appearances.

The girls were shopping at 313@Somerset's New Look outlet. New Look is the official accessories and shoe sponsor for The New Paper New Face 2015, while the official apparel is Levi's.

This modelling competition is presented by Subaru.

When shopping for footwear, finalist Amy Syireen Marican, 18, considers both comfort and design.

"If it's not comfortable, then I wouldn't wear it, but at the same time I obviously need to look good in them. If I don't, then I don't even bother," she said.

At New Look, she selected the Ankle Strap Chunky Platform Block Heels - it met both of her criteria.

The thick heels help to elongate her legs and the pink-tinted nude colour is easy to match with almost any outfit.

FIRST TIME

This was also Amy's first time getting heels at New Look.

"I've bought flats here before though, and they were very comfortable. I loved them," she said.

Fellow finalist Denise Pung, 22, was also able to find a pair that fit well and looked great.

"I got a silver pair of heels with an open toe and chunky heels, so it's not a stiletto," she said. The Silver Patent T-Bar Strap Block Heels' delicate ankle straps and eye-catching colour add glamour to any outfit.

Denise, a student at Singapore Institute of Management, said: "I really liked them because they're super shiny and very bright. They're also very comfortable because there's padding in the front and back, so it's not painful when I walk."

She had previously bought a pair of black shoes with a lower heel from New Look for Round 1 of The New Paper New Face auditions - she said they were very comfortable.

When it comes to shoe shopping, finalist Nikki Pang, 19, has specific requirements.

"I normally look for more neutral colours because they're easier to match," said the Institute of Technical Education student.

"I will go for things that make my legs look longer, like a thinner strap around the ankle or elevated heels. Showing more skin at the front of your foot also lengthens your legs."

Nikki was one of the fastest when it came to choosing her heels. She decided on the Mint Green Patent Pointed Court Shoes, which added a dash of colour to her outfit.

"I picked it because it's really vibrant. When you look at all the shoes on the wall, this one pops out. It's glossy and really bright," said Nikki.

Catch the New Face 15 finalists when they make an appearance at M.A.C.'s Art Of The Lip Event at Tangs Orchard tomorrow at 3pm. For updates on New Face, follow TNPNewFace on Twitter and Instagram and TheNewPaperNewFace on Facebook.
