Actor Qi Yuwu is giving his first child a headstart in being in front of the cameras - by hiring a female photographer to document the birth, My Paper reported.
His wife, actress Joanne Peh, 32, is due to give birth within these two weeks.
At a press conference on Tuesday (July 28) for the launch of the local historical movie, 1965, it was Qi's impending fatherhood that got the media's attention.
The China-born actor shared that he will be going into the delivery room with Peh, but he won't be the one carrying the camera. Instead, a female photographer will do the job of capturing the whole process as she gives birth.
He shared that Peh also completed a nude pregnancy photoshoot recently - something which the actress had mentioned she wanted to do 'as a memento'.
Qi, 38, shared that while Peh was a little uncomfortable at the start, she managed to settle in after a while. Soon, her 'maternal glow' shone through, and she pulled off the shoot 'looking beautiful and sexy', said Qi.
According to My Paper, Qi also let on that Peh has gained about 10kg since pregnancy. However, he said "from the back, you can't even tell that she is pregnant."
The daddy-to-be admitted he is excited as the baby's birth draws nearer, and shared that his parents will also be in Singapore during that time. But although the baby is due anytime now, Qi is still keeping mum on the sex of the baby.
Qi teased the media by saying he prefers girls, but he is fine with either a boy or girl.
He added: "I came up with the English name while Joanne thought of the Chinese name."
Peh, who also stars in the movie, was not seen during the press briefing, but turned up for the gala premiere that same evening.
