Red carpet report card

Best pregnant fashion

Keira Knightley, 29

Navigating the minefield that is red-carpet fashion is hard enough as it is, but incredibly more so when you are pregnant and dealing with a constantly changing figure. But the Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee has done admirably well, sticking to floaty numbers that fit her romantic style.

From a blue Delpozo number with a long train to a multi-layered purple Erdem gown, Knightley has managed to stay true to herself even with the additional bump to dress.

Best classic male fashion

Eddie Medmayne, 33

Best Actor Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne knows what suits him - a slim, sharp silhouette figure. He executes this perfectly in navy and black numbers by Gucci, Ralph Laure and Alexander McQueen on several occasions this season.

While classic in red-carpet taste overall, Redmayne, who won for The Theory Of Everything, adds small touches - from a contrast colour lapel to a double-breasted jacket - for a little variety to his looks.

Best demure dresser

Felicity Jones, 31

Perhaps it is because of her classic features, but The Theory Of Everything actress has a period face that looks great in a more demure, classic neckline. This red-carpet season, the breakout star showed the world she could wear couture and look beautiful in more covered-up fare, compared to the more skin-baring looks favoured by some of her peers.

From the teal Dior gown at the Globed to the blush pink criss-crossed column dress from Balenciaga, Jones looked like pure elegance personified.

Best comeback

Natalie Portman, 33

Portman has been off the red-carpet radar lately, as she took some time off from work after her Oscar win for Black Swan in 2011. It is fantastic to see her back, appearing glamorous at the Berlin International Film Festival and at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

She has an elegant simple, sculptural style that comes across in the recent Lanvin gown with ruffle accents, a pink Dior dress and white Dior long-sleeved gown. A face of the brand's Miss Dior perfume, she is also one of the best ambassadors on the red carpet.

Most versatile

Diane Kruger, 38

Actress Diane Kruger uses her ex-model chops to good use. She is the queen of versatile dressing, which she demonstrated on the red carpet.

From tight, glittery Emilia Wickstead at the Globed, to a printed, voluminous blue and white Naeem Khan, she pulls off all kinds of silhouettes with ease.

At post-Oscars parties, she was clad in one of the night's most striking looks, in a red one-shoulder Donna Karan Atelier gown over matching slim pants. On paper, it sounds like too much but on Kruger, it looks effortlessly beautiful.
