Shu Uemura Brow:Sword brow pencil

$81, available at Shu Uemura counters from next month

Review: The lead of this automatic brow liner comes in an angular oval shape. By positioning the ergonomic nib accordingly, it is easy for me to draw on thicker strokes to fill the middle of my brows and to define the edges of the brows with finer lines.

The brush on the other end of the pencil is thick and wide with soft bristles. It is gentle on the skin and helps to soften the brow colour for a softer and more natural look. The pencil comes with a convenient built-in sharpener too.

The cartridge and case cost $53, while each refill costs $28.

Available in five shades.

Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Brow Pencil

$68, from Bobbi Brown counters

Review: The lead of this automatic pencil is in the shape of a faceted oblong with a narrow and thin tip.

Like the Shu Uemura pencil, its ergonomic nib easily lets me fill in and draw on my brows with a natural finish. The relatively long and full spoolie brush on the other end of the pencil also allows for an effortless smoothening of the colour on my entire brow.

Available in eight shades.

Marc Jacobs Brow Wow Defining Longwear Pencil

$36, from Sephora stores

Review: The automatic pencil with a fine nib lets me draw on fine strokes without fuss. On the other end of the pencil is a slim and tapered brush with stiff bristles which offers a precise blending of the colour. This pencil is waterproof too.

Available in five shades.

K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Lasting 2Way Eyebrow Pencil

$23.90, from selected personal-care and department stores

Review: This waterproof brow product comes with two ends: an automatic pencil on one side and a brow powder on the other.

The nib of the pencil is fine enough to give brows a sharp definition, while the brow powder - which is conveniently packed into the cap of a sponge tip - fills the empty spaces between the hairs to create an illusion of soft and fuller brows.

Available in three shades.

Daiso Styling Eyebrow Pencil

$2, from Daiso stores

Review: The colour glides onto the skin easily; the nib is fine enough for sharper strokes; and there is a bristle brush on the other end of the pencil for softening harsh lines.

The reddish brown and grey options are not the most flattering, but as this automatic pencil costs only $2, I'm not complaining.

Available in two shades.
