SFW: Arissa X brings back the 90s in the coolest way

Embrace chokers, crop tops, and high-heeled combat boots as Arissa Cheo shows you how to slay the 90s trend with a larger-than-life attitude, a bit of skin and lots of bling.

Singapore fashionista Arissa Cheo took us on a trip to back to the 1990s with her debut ready-to-wear and accessories collection, Arissa X, and I have to say, the clothes were well-worth the journey.

The tone of the collection was set with the opening look: A graffitied leather vest worn over a black bralette, denim jacket tied at the waist over super short shorts and lace up knee high boots.

Within the sleek and minimalistic walls of the National Gallery, Arissa created a glamorous rock 'n' roll atmosphere with her clothes, accessories and the impressive soundtrack. It was youthful, carefree and quite rebellious.

Gritty, tough and heavy-duty laced up knee-high boots were paired with everything from tight bodysuits, to shiny slip dresses and crisp cotton shirts. Her accessories, which include chokers, chunky chains and studded belts furnished the outfits with a whole lot of attitude. Other 90s influences came through in frayed denim, dresses layered over tops and plenty of waist ties.

The way the clothes were styled was most compelling here. The collection was small and there appeared to be repeats in the some of the individual pieces worn, but thanks to the impeccable styling, it breathed a new lease of life to the piece of clothing each time it went down the runway, and brought out the spirit of the baddest pre-Millennium styles.

The Arissa X girl that she is designing for is "not perfect, not premeditated" and definitely too cool to care. You have to be game enough to wear it.
