Showcase your talent and win

The Singapore International Indian Shopping Festival (SIISFest) is back for the third time next month.

And, amid all the shopping and festivities, be sure to look out for these special competitions tailored for women and children.

Organised by Tamil Murasu, de ideaz and tabla!, the four-day event will be held at Halls 401 and 402 of the Suntec City Convention Centre from Oct 2 to 5.

The competitions kick off with the sari draping competition on Oct 2, so get your kanchipuram, chiffon, georgette and crepe saris with quirky blouses and show us how you drape it.

Participants are required to drape their saris in a different style in 10 minutes and walk the ramp.

Participants will have to bring their own models and will each get one minute to present their saris.

The Henna Queen competition follows on Oct 3, in which participants will be given 40 minutes to complete their henna designs on their own models. Only the henna cones and other necessary materials will be provided.

Then there is the make-up workshop on Oct 2 and 3 where you can share your secret to perfect make-up and hair as well as accentuate your inner and outer beauty with makeover sessions.

Make-up artists will conduct demonstrations on willing participants on the spot, explaining the process step by step, with tips and tricks along the way. The workshop will be conducted for one hour on both days.

There is also the Zumba Dare competition on Oct 2 and 3, for which audience participation is encouraged.

Watch out for a simple and fun performance, featuring different styles of dancing.

All the fun is not only for the ladies. Children are also encouraged to participate in the Spell-O-Well, Kaun Banega Fest Brainy Idol, Fancy Folks, Blooming Star, Footloose and Different Strokes competitions.

While participation in more than one competition is allowed, children below 18 years should get their parent's consent to participate in the contests. Pre-registration is required and the last date for registration is Sept 22.

Entries are limited and on a first-come, first- served basis.

The judges' decision will be final, and all winners must be present at the prize-giving ceremony to qualify for their prizes.
