SINGAPORE - A two-storey mall dedicated to food and beverage offerings is set to open in the east by the first quarter of 2016.
There will be more than 20 dining options at Katong Square, its developer Katong Holdings said in a statement today, adding that there will be events and programmes like food and wine festivals throughout the year.
The "eclectic mix" of dining concepts includes a selection of homegrown and international brands, as well as Eastern and Western cuisines.
Katong Square will be situated near the junction of East Coast Road and Joo Chiat Road, next to the planned Marine Parade MRT station. The 55,000 sq ft integrated development will sit below two upcoming hotels, Hoilday Inn Express and the InterContinental Hotel Group's boutique Hotel Indigo.
The Joo Chiat Police Station, which has been marked by the Urban Redevelopment Authority as a conservation building, will form part of the retail section of Katong Square.
"Our company seeks to incorporate features exclusive to Katong with this development. At the same time, we will be introducing other established food and beverage operators to complement the current food offerings in Katong to augment their identity as Singapore's first heritage town," Elaine Seah, development manager of Katong Holdings and Master Contract Services said.
