Singapore's luxury shopping malls compete for top honours at AsiaOne's annual awards

SINGAPORE - Prada, Gucci or Louis Vuitton - when you are in need of some decadent pampering, AsiaOne wants to know, where will you go?

This year, Singapore's luxury malls have been nominated in the AsiaOne People's Choice Awards newest category - the Best Luxury Shopping Centre.

The shortlisted places are the newly-opened Capitol Piazza, Hilton Shopping Gallery, Mandarin Gallery, Forum The Shopping Mall, ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City, Paragon and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

AsiaOne People's Choice Awards 2016 seeks to crown the most enticing shopping centre to head to for luxury goods. In it's eighth edition, the awards seeks to honour the best products, brands and services in Singapore.

Giants of Orchard Road

Need a Prada handbag or a Gucci gown? The retail giants of Orchard Road - ION Orchard and Ngee Ann City - could be the first places to come to mind when you are in need of couture.

Housing a myriad of high fashion brands and cafes - these two malls are perfect for a day out with the ladies for some high-end shopping and high-tea.

ION Orchard boasts a strong line-up of international fashion houses such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Prada - their shiny storefronts gleaming with the latest collections, and advertisements featuring today's top supermodels.

The shopping experience is completed by relaxing at the art gallery or bar at ION Sky's observatory or sipping unique tea blends at one of their gourmet cafes.

If you are looking for some luxurious bling, Ngee Ann City just a few steps away might be the right place to be. Known as a popular upscale shopping mall, Ngee Ann City is famed for its twin towers and signature warm red exterior.

Fine jewellery shops welcome shoppers to a up-class shopping experience at the first level with Japanese luxury pearl company, Mikimoto, taking prime spot. The brand is known to be a favourite among the Japanese royal family and celebrities in their homeland.

Fan of the movie Breakfast of Tiffany's? Grab a croissant from French bakery Paul's (or even the delicate macarons from Laduree) and do your best Audrey Hepburn imitation while gazing lovingly at the decorative rings or bracelets at Tiffany's & Co located at the second level.

If you prefer a more European touch, Cartier, Piaget and Van Cleefs & Arpels are neighbours to the American jeweller.

Exquisite and intimate

Mandarin Gallery or Hilton Shopping Gallery might cater to your shopping needs if you prefer a more intimate experience.

Known for highlighting modern high fashion, Mandarin Gallery features top names like Emporio Armani, Max Mara and Yohji Yamamoto's Y-3, as well as luxury high-end lifestyle boutiques Vertu and Montblanc.

On the quieter end of Orchard Road, Hilton Shopping Gallery has a collection of "finest names" in fashion, as they claim.

Balenciaga, Alexander Wang, Dries Van Noten, Lanvin, Rolex and Missoni - from classic high fashion to exquisite minimalist labels, Hilton is one place not to be missed.

A waterfront experience

The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands will bound to come up in any conversation regarding high fashion.

Making up one of the prominent buildings of the Singapore city skyline, The Shoppes is known for housing the world's biggest fashion names and has also hosted the couture fashion show, Fide Fashion Week, in 2013.

The mall houses the flagship boutiques of Carolina Herrera, Versace, Longines, Kenzo and Christian Dior - Louis Vuitton even has its own "island".

Each of these eight nominees in this category have strong showings in terms of brands, facilities and atmosphere - it's a close call and we need your votes to pick the best of the best.
