Taiwanese actress-singer Ariel Lin held an engagement party for the media, close friends and relatives in Taipei on Oct 29 , which also happened to be her 32nd birthday.
The 50-table dinner event was held at the Ambassador Hotel, reported Apple Daily.
It was the first time the public had a look at the TV sweetheart's fiance, Charles Lin, who admitted during a press conference in the afternoon that he was 'very nervous'. But the Taiwanese-American businessman managed to express his happiness in marrying 'such a beautiful bride'.
The star-studded guest list included Taiwanese celebrities like Kai Ko, Christine Fan and husband "Blackie", Matilda Tao and Bowie Tsang.
Guests also goaded the couple into kissing for the cameras, to which the pair shyly obliged by giving each other an innocent peck on the cheek.
According to Apple Daily, Ariel wore a bright red dress during the engagement ceremony with her parents earlier in the day, where Charles put a gold ring on her finger. Ariel later clarified that the ring she is wearing is a platimum wedding band and not a diamond engagement ring, as 'I will wear it for a long time and it can match any outfit'.
It was reported that the pair have been dating for more than two years, with rumours that Charles proposed to Ariel last year. But the actress refused to acknowledge the reports then.
However, invitation cards for the engagement party were leaked online in early Oct, revealing the engagement date as well as the wedding date, which is set on Christmas eve this year.
The usually private actress finally confirmed reports of the engagement to the media on Oct 17, at the same time releasing photos from her wedding photoshoot.
During the press conference, Charles gamely revealed he had proposed to the actress in New York last year, when the actress was in the city for a university admission interview.
As for where the couple will be staying after marriage, Ariel will reportedly shuttle between Taiwan and US, where Charles is based for work at his family's diving equipment business.
