Toteme, the year-old fashion brand by Swedish street-style star Elin Kling and her art director husband, Karl Lindman, has launched a capsule collection exclusively for online luxury retailer Net-A-Porter.
Based on best-selling styles from previous collections, this 14-piece summer line includes breezy beach dresses, preppy knits and kaftan tunics for jetsetting fashionistas.
These sleek, minimal essentials are now available on Net-A-Porter. Prices range from US$63 (S$84) for the Biot sandals to US$457 for the Toulon Silk Wide-Leg pants. Kling tells Urban more about her label in an e-mail interview.
How did Toteme come about?
The initial idea was born out of necessity. I found myself packing for Los Angeles in total darkness after the power went out during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. It was an impromptu trip and I thought, "Why don't I have the perfect summer dress for vacation like I have my go-to denim and cashmere sweaters?" Together with my husband, I developed Toteme with a goal to produce highly curated collections of luxury essentials for the modern woman.
How would you describe the Toteme aesthetic?
A modern take on classic American sportswear with an effortless European sensibility.
What is it like working with your husband on the brand?
I believe it to be a very modern way of working. Instead of keeping work separate, why not mix it up with your private life? As long as it is fun and you both are doing something that you like. Karl and I are a perfect match.
