A very private wedding for Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu

SINGAPORE - Local celebrity couple Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu got married in a low-key wedding at the Movenpick Heritage Hotel in Sentosa yesterday (Sep 9).

According to Lianhe Zaobao and xinmsn, the couple held a private wedding which only a small group of their friends and relatives were invited to.

Their fellow MediaCorp artistes, managers and producers did not attend the ceremony.

The newly-wed couple, who have known each other for over 10 years, also confirmed their wedding through movie producer, Daniel Yun.

Celebrity hairstylist David Gan had posted photos of the hush-hush event on his Instagram, which showed the couple's backview signing the papers in front of the Merlion.

In one of the photos, David remarked, "Another one of my daughters is married!"

Local magazine Her World Brides also uploaded a photo of Joanne in her wedding gown.

Yuwu and Joanne have been dating for more than a year, shortly after the latter broke up with American DJ-host Bobby Tonelli.

When asked if he was afraid of a backlash for Joanne, Yuwu then said, "That's life. Don't tell me you need to be alone for three to five years before it's considered normal or okay to date again? Sometimes it just happens."

The pair will reportedly hold their wedding banquet next year in 2015.

A statement released by their managers on Wednesday morning confirmed the happy occasion.

"Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh were colleagues in MediaCorp for over 10 years. They were co-stars, friends before becoming a couple," read the statement.

"In the last year while their filming schedules and work commitments have been a challenge for them to spend time together, both have travelled to be with each other whenever possible - Joanne flying to Beijing, and Qi to Kuala Lumpur.

"Please join us to wish them forever love and happiness."
