SINGAPORE - Taiwanese singer and actress Vivian Hsu is believed to have gone through a womb-related surgery in April this year, according to Asian entertainment news site Asian E-News Portal.
The 40-year-old, who is currently four months pregnant, reportedly had to stay in hospital for a month to recover.
According to Asian E-News Portal, Hsu had "accepted" the need for surgery as it is believed to be able to help prevent the risk of a miscarriage and birth complications because of her advanced age for pregnancy.
After the operation, Hsu reportedly could not handle the weight of the baby which caused "difficulty in her movements".
She was also bedridden and needed a wheelchair to get about daily. No official report was released about her discharge from hospital.
A report by Asian E-News Portal on Mother's Day reported that Hsu needed full rest in bed until the baby's birth.
Given Hsu's age and the risk of undergoing surgery during the first trimester, fans might wonder how she has been doing.
Revealing that she is expecting is a boy, Hsu said in a Facebook Post on May 10 that both mother and son are safe.
She said: "I guess I will listen to the doctor and stay in the bed this year!"
Hsu is currently based in Singapore with her businessman husband Sean Lee. The couple have been married since 2014.
While it is unknown what Hsu's estimated delivery date is, if all goes well with the rest of her pregnancy, fans can expect to see her baby boy some time in October this year.
