Zhang Ziyi hints at marriage: "I'm not getting any younger"

Did Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi just drop a big hint to boyfriend Wang Feng about wanting to get hitched soon?

That's what Chinese media have picked up on after an exchange with the actress on Nov 24.

Zhang was at a promotional event in Guangzhou, China for her new movie, The Crossing.

In the movie, Zhang plays a woman driven to prostitution who has a romance with a soldier, played by Tong Dawei. They go through turbulent times before finally being able take a family photo together with their child.

According to Sina Entertainment, the actress revealed during the interview that she yearns for a happy family life.

She shared that happiness to her is being able to enjoy time together with her parents and her future offspring.

When asked when she intends to tie the knot with her Chinese rocker beau, the 35-year-old quipped: "It should be soon, I'm not getting any younger."

Her comment was seen as a thinly-veiled threat to Wang, 43, to "put a ring on it", especially after Wang failed to do so during his concert in Aug.

Apple Daily had reported that Letv, a Chinese site that made a live webcast of the concert that night, had gone so as far as to send out a press release saying Wang would spring a sweet surprise on the most important woman in his life on Chinese Valentine's Day, no less.

Viewers had to pay 30 yuan (S$6) to watch the webcast and supposed surprise, said the report, which failed to materialise in the end.

But he did go down on one knee amid chants from the 60,000-strong crowd, as he said: "Thanks for calling her name again and again. It makes me believe that my choice is right, that my love is right."

Apple Daily, which cited unnamed sources, said Wang may have backed out of asking Zhang to marry him at his concert for fear of being accused of imitating another Chinese actress, Zhou Xun, who held her wedding onstage with actor Archie Kao following a charity concert.

Whatever the case is, let's hope Wang gets the hint this time.
