3-year-old girl denied toilet on plane

A three-year-old girl was forced to urinate on her airplane seat after a JetBlue Airways flight attendant refused to let her use the toilet last Monday.

The girl's mother, Mrs Jennifer Devereaux, told a Boston TV station that her daughter was not allowed to use the bathroom while the plane was delayed in taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Mrs Devereaux, a photographer, said: "It wasn't about bad customer service, it was about human decency."

The mother of two said she had no napkins or towels on hand, so she was forced to use her own sweater to soak up the mess. As she was tidying up, Mrs Devereaux said the flight attendant yelled at her before reporting the incident to the pilot.

The plane was turned around and returned to the gate, and the captain announced that there was a non-compliant passenger who would be removed.

An off-duty pilot sitting near Mrs Devereaux convinced his colleagues in the cockpit to let her stay.

The airline apologised to the mother on Saturday.
