Acer aims for third spot in Taiwan's projector market

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Acer Inc. aims to scale four places to become the third largest projector brand on home turf in 2015, Acer Taiwan's President Towny Huang (黃鐘鋒) said on Wednesday.

In a publicity event held yesterday, Acer Inc (宏碁股份) announced a sales alliance with ten channel partners including Synnex (聯強), Xander (建達),TKEC (燦坤), Yahoo Kimo (雅虎奇摩) and PChome Online (網路家庭) in a bid to acquire a bigger share of Taiwan's projector market.

Huang attributed the partnership to a public speaking event at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU, 交通大學). He revealed that he had never had an idea of the current standing of Acer's projector business in Taiwan until he launched an on-site survey where most NCTU students said they didn't know that Acer makes projectors.

Towny Huang said that Acer is in fact the world's third largest projector brand with 7.1-per cent market share. In the European Union, Acer has remained in the third spot since 2008 with a market share of 13.8 per cent in late 2013.

He added that Acer has reshaped its business and expects to move up four notches to 3rd place in the local projector market next year.
