Tigers, lions, jaguars, bears and wolves escaped on Sunday from flooded zoo enclosures in Georgia's capital of Tbilisi, the mayor's office said. Some of the animals were captured by the police, while others were shot dead, the mayor's office told local Rustavi 2 television.
At least eight people have drowned and several others are missing in the Tbilisi in the serious flooding, the Interior Minister said on Sunday."At least eight people died" in the flood, Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri told Georgia's Rustavi 2 television.
An unnamed official quoted by the channel said the toll has since risen to nine.
