Badly burned girl, 8, wants nothing but Christmas cards for the holidays

She lost her entire family in an arson attack, and suffered burns so severe that she lost a hand and a foot, but Safyre Terry, 8, never stopped being hopeful and bright.

Safyre's 32-year-old father and three younger siblings were killed in a house fire in New York two years ago. She was found lying next to her father who had used his body to shield her from the flames.

Although she suffered burns on 75 per cent of her body, she survived the vicious attack.

She now lives with her paternal aunt, Liz Dolder, who runs a Facebook page in support of the girl.

Recently, Dolder shared on Facebook that despite all the pain little Safyre has gone through, all she wants this Christmas is for people to send her Christmas cards.

According to UK site Daily Mail, Dodler had bought her niece a Christmas tree to hang cards on, and Safyre has been wanting to fill the entire tree with cards ever since.

Hundreds of people who saw the appeal were touched by Safyre's story and have pledged to help fulfil her wish by sending her Christmas cards.

A fundraising page has also been set up by Ms Dolder's friends to help raise money for Safyre.

According to the appeal on the crowdfunding page, Ms Dolder's family faces tremendous financial stress since her husband Mike lost his job. Despite these problems and having their own four children to care for, they have not given up on Safyre and continue to give her a loving home.
