Being a mummy keeps him feeling young

UNITED STATES - Fetishes are taboo, right?

Not to this man, though, who moonlights as an ancient mummy and yearns to share his unconventional hobby with the world.

However, one thing Mark, a salesman who lives in the US, prefers to keep under wraps is his surname, as his wife doesn't want to be identified.

The 57-year-old grandfather of eight was candid as he spoke to regional media in a phone interview from San Francisco last week.

Appearing on the new documentary series Forbidden, which delves into unorthodox underground lifestyles from across the globe that challenge the norm, has allowed him to release his inhibitions.

It premieres on Discovery Channel (StarHub Ch 422) on Nov 7 at 10pm.

He said: "I like being wrapped up in duct tape because the even pressure applied to the skin is a big attraction to me.

"The feeling of being fully covered and being completely immobile is both comforting and exciting.

"I can be transported to a world where I can find peace as my feelings are internalised."

He added: "(When I was younger), the process of mummification used to have sexual connotations for me...but now it has become something spiritual."

Mark's love affair with duct tape started when he was a child.

After watching a TV show on mummies in Egypt, he wanted to be one himself.

He experimented with bandages and progressed to vinyl tape when he was older.
