Car crash kills bride after wedding

GEORGIA - It was the happiest day of her life - Ms Kali Shay Dobson, 25, had married the man of her dreams.

Soon after the wedding in a church in the US state of Georgia last Sunday, the newlyweds drove back home to start "their beautiful journey of life".

But they did not get far.

Ms Dobson's husband, Mr Ryan Patrick Quinton, 27, who was driving, lost control of the car while trying to avoid hitting a dog on a highway. The car overturned and rolled off the road.

Ms Dobson was thrown out of the car, which landed on top of her, killing her on the spot.

She had not been wearing a seat belt, Marietta Daily Journal reported.

Mr Quinton could face criminal charges if he is found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol, police said. Results of blood tests have not been released.

WRECKAGE

He stumbled from the wreckage in search of help, eventually flagging down motorist Chris Thomas.

"His shirt was all torn up and he was bleeding," Mr Thomas told ABC News Affiliate WSB-TV.

"He had blood all over his face and blood coming out of his hands."

After news of the crash began to spread on Sunday night, friends and family posted condolences and remembrances for Ms Dobson.

"A beautiful, joyful bride. Kali was & is forever a shining star," one woman wrote, along with a picture from the wedding.

"Our hearts are broken."

In the picture, Ms Dobson and Mr Quinton are shown holding each other close as they dance in front of friends and family at their reception.

Others on Facebook remembered Ms Dobson's beauty and expressed their shock over the tragedy.

Ms Patsy Jordan, who once worked with Ms Dobson's mother, said: "It's traumatic. Just to think she just got married and started on her beautiful journey of life and it just ended so suddenly.

"It was just hard to wrap my brain around something like that."
