Cat who saved boy from dog attack honoured at baseball game

Four year-old Jeremy Triantafilo, who was attacked by a dog last week before his cat lunged to save him, threw the first pitch at a minor league baseball game in California.

Then Jeremy's father held the hero cat, Tara, as she threw a ceremonial pitch - sort of - while staff from the Bakersfield baseball team used fishing wire to try to make the ball look like it was flying through the air.

Tara's defense of Jeremy went viral on YouTube after she saved him from a dog who had dragged him from his bike and bit him.

Jeremy's grateful mom said: "For me being the mother every time I watch it it stops my heart for a moment. But knowing our cat was there and knowing that things could have been much worse without her, we are just so very thankful for her."

The crowd at Sam Lynn Park also came out to see Tara.

Said one spectator: "That's a very protective cat, pretty awesome." There is no question that Tara, the fearless feline, stole the show.
