It was a thrilling battle between a pair of energetic promotional newcomers, but Chen Lei was able to pull away with the victory at ONE: DYNASTY OF HEROES on Friday, 26 May, from the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Meciaz, who was making his professional mixed martial arts debut, charged after the Chinese 4-0 veteran straight away and tried to finish him quickly. The “Predator” showed no hesitation in his first time in the cage, immediately jumping into a scissor-leg takedown attempt and working for heel hooks.

For a little while, Chen looked to be in danger, but the Shanghai Open BJJ Champion defended well, eventually working his way out of Meciaz’s grasp and took top position. From there, the 28-year-old wrested control with methodical strikes to the head of his Indonesian opponent.

The 25-year-old Meciaz’s attacks were forced to a standstill before long, as he absorbed blow after blow underneath Lei from a loose butterfly guard. The Indonesian was offered a brief respite, however, as referee Yuji Shimada stood both competitors up after a stall in the action.

However, the story remained unchanged, as before long, Chen was once more resumed his relentless ground and pound assault. The longer this went on, the more tired Meciaz became, and soon, he could not answer Chen’s strikes.

The referee stepped in to stop the damage and called an end to the contest, giving the bout to “Rock Man.”

Chen entertained those watching with his heroic comeback, and vows to continue fighting with high energy and pride in future.

“I am really happy and really excited,” he said, after the bout. “I will fight every fight in ONE Championship like that.”

“Rock Man” got the win at 2:56 of the first round, and improves his record to 5-0. Meciaz’s record, meanwhile, gets off to a 0-1 start with the loss.
