David Copperfield once used magic tricks to fool robbers

Several years ago, renowned magician David Copperfield and two of his female assistants were robbed after a performance in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Copperfield, Cathy Daly and Mia Volmut were heading back to their tour bus when a car pulled up and the people in it blocked the trio's way.

These people weren't fans asking for autographs, but were robbers, reports Things You Didn't Know.

The assistants gave away their cash, passports, watches and cellphones.

When the robbers demanded that Copperfield empty his pockets, he told them that they were already empty.

The robbers didn't believe him and told him to prove it. To their wonder, Copperfield was right. His pockets were indeed empty.

What the robbers didn't know was that the illusionist used a sleight of hand in order to hide his belongings from them.

After the robbers took off, the trio alerted the police and few hours later the criminals were caught.
