Iranian teen admits she lied about undergoing 50 surgeries to look like Angelina Jolie
[Update, Dec 7]: An Iranian girl who claimed to have gone through 50 surgeries to look like American actress Angelina Jolie has admitted it's all a hoax.
Her shocking photos - said to resemble Tim Burton's 'Corpse Bride' character rather than the Hollywood star, were the result of make-up and photoshop, according to The Independent.
In an interview with Russian media, 19-year-old Sahar Tabar said she doctored the photos just to 'amuse herself'.
For the record, these photos may provide a more accurate glimpse of what Tabar looks like in real life, according to an Instagram fan page:
Every fangirl knows that there's a fine line between admiration and obsession. And when a fan crosses that line, things can take a turn for the ugly.
This Iranian woman for instance, took things a little too far when she supposedly went through 50 surgeries to look like her idol, Angelina Jolie.
Since Sahar Tabar posted her photos on Instagram, many have reacted to the drastic changes in her appearance. One Instagram user even commented, "zombie" to describe her ghastly appearance in this photo:
Another one of her followers also commented that she resembled Emily from Tim Burton's Corpse Bride film.
But not everyone believed Tabar's plastic surgery claims. Reddit user zaza9000 questioned Tabar's claims when there was obvious blurring in some areas of her photo.
In this Reddit post, zaza9000 explains, " I do believe she got plastic surgery, but it's more or less makeup and extremely exaggerating her features that she got done." Zaza9000's post was then followed by a reply from Reddit user slumberingaardvark who compared these two photos of Tabar and claimed that it was all photoshop.
According to an article on Snopes.com, Sahar appeared to refute the surgery claims in another Instagram account which bears her name. The account has since been deleted.
She reportedly wrote: 'Hello relatively dear followers, the picture that you're scrutinising, even though I didn't like it, I kept it in … I must say I only had [indeterminate number of] surgery, not 50 surgeries, and foreign sites and channels were very biased in the way they talked about my photos. She has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on social media (Picture: sahartabar_official) 'I thought these people are probably living in the 18th century and they haven't seen or heard of technology or makeup and they are really surprised.'
Whether she really got plastic surgery done or it's just photo editing, one thing's for sure - she still doesn't seem to resemble the Tomb Raider actress!
