A dog has taken over the role of mother to tiger cubs at the Qiqihar Lonza Botanical Garden and Zoo, in China's Heilongjiang province.

Photos of the dog breastfeeding one of the Siberian tiger cubs have been widely shared online.

According to online reports, a tiger at the zoo gave birth to quadruplets on Aug 16. But it apparently does not have enough milk to feed all four of her cubs.

So the dog has become a surrogate mother by breastfeeding one cub, reported qqhrnew.com.

Siberian tiger cubs need to be fed 12 times a day for about three to four months, until they are able to start eating solid food, reported Shanghaiist.
