Eurostar train blocked after hitting deer

PARIS - A Eurostar train from London to Paris was blocked for hours after hitting a deer in the dead of night, a company spokesman said Thursday.

The 450 passengers finally arrived in the French capital before dawn on Thursday - over five hours late - after the accident near Lille in northern France.

"Apologies, the deer did quite a number of the front bumper, which the driver has done his best to remedy, but safety before speed," Eurostar said in a tweet.
