Gearing up for better offerings from Samsung
The Galaxy Gear smartwatch alerts users to calls and text messages received on the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone.

PETALING JAYA - Just two weeks after announcing the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone and Galaxy Gear smartwatch in Berlin at the IFA 2013 trade show, Samsung Malaysia Electronics will start retailing the much-anticipated Android devices here on Sept 25.

The South Korean electronics giant is even sweetening the deal by including the Galaxy Lifestyle Rewards worth RM1,500 (S$591) with every purchase of Note 3.

"We are proud to set a new benchmark in large screen mobile and wearable device category," said Kwon Jae-hoon, Samsung Malaysia managing director.

The Note 3 features a larger 5.7-inch screen which makes it more fun to enjoy multimedia content and run multiple apps.

Malaysians will also get the high-end version of the Note 3 which features LTE for even faster Internet surfing speed and downloading.

The Galaxy Gear is a smartwatch that not only tells time but also alerts the user when the user receives a call or text message on their smartphone. Currently, the Gear works with the Note 3 but Samsung has plans to support more smartphones soon.

"The Gear integrates smart technology even deeper into the lives of consumers. We want their daily lives to be easier and more enjoyable," he said.

The Note 3, which is available in Jet Black and Classic White, retails for RM2,399. The Lifestyle Rewards includes a two week trial of The Star ePaper, 90-day complimentary wi-fi service by Telekom Malaysia at over 27,000 hotspots nationwide, 50GB Dropbox online storage for two years, and up to 500 songs.

The Gear, available in Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green, goes for RM999.
