Intergalactic battles can be hard work. Just ask the crew from science fiction anime series Space Battleship Yamato, who are constantly drenched in sweat as they try to save humanity from aliens.

Thankfully, they can now cool down faster with a new futuristic-looking gadget made by Panasonic Japan. With a design centred around the popular sci-fi anime series, the electric fan is cool in all senses of the word.

A video released by Panasonic Japan on Feb 5 shows a spheroid-shaped device with the words 'UNCF (United Nations Cosmo Navy) Yamato' emblazoned on it.

The fan, which can be standing or wall-mounted, can rotate a full 360-degrees.

Its mission is simple: To provide comfortable winds to beings on Earth!

According to the product's website, wind from the electric fan is circulated in the form of a "wave cannon", keeping true to its sci-fi theme. The device also emits orange and blue LED lights, making it look like a spaceship that is out of this world.

Its launch is planned to coincide with the release of a new anime film series, Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love, on Feb 25.

The fan costs 80,000 yen (S$1,012) and only 333 units will be made available.
