Man proposes to girlfriend, she jumps for joy, then falls to death

IBIZA, Spain - A woman was so happy celebrating a marriage proposal, she died after falling from a cliff in the resort of Cala Tarida, Ibiza.

This tragedy took place last Tuesday on the island in the Mediterranean Sea, near Spain, when her boyfriend popped the question.

The spot is famous for its sunset views.

Bulgarian Dimitrina Dimitrova, 29, suffered a heart attack as she fell 20m from the cliff, reported UK's The Independent.

Ms Dimitrova was alive when paramedics attended to her, but died minutes later.

A local Civil Guard spokesman said: "Everything is pointing towards the death being the result of a tragic freak accident."

Ms Dimitrova's boyfriend is a waiter working on the island. She had joined him two days before to look for work.

Police investigating the incident believes she lost her balance as she jumped with excitement after her partner, also from Bulgaria, asked her to marry him.

SUNRISE DEATH

The death comes after Briton Gareth Jones, 25, died when he fell off a cliff while viewing the sunrise in Australia last December.

And last August, a Polish couple fell to their deaths while taking a selfie at a cliff's edge in Cabo da Roca, Portugal, reported The Daily Mail.

Their children, aged five and six, witnessed the accident and were taken into care before returning to their homeland to live with relatives.
