In Portland, residents turn recycling into practical, superior art forms that boast a fashion statement of their very own.

Unwanted clothes, furniture and all kinds of discards, whether big or small, are rescued and transformed into seemingly new forms that reflect the sustainable policy of the city in Oregon.

One man had a big ambition: To save retired jetliners from becoming scrap metal by reusing them. He turned one of them into a home, reported Reuters.

Step into the Boeing 727 home of Bruce Campbell, parked in the woods outside the suburbs of Portland. It comes complete with a long futon for sleeping and lounging, toilet and wash facilities, plus comfy chairs in the cockpit.

This home is in a class of its own.
