Marathoners give up good timing to help exhausted runner cross finish line

Running may be an individual sport, but it is very often fueled by support on the sidelines.

At the recent Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon on March 26, a woman was on the verge of collapsing just metres away from the finish line, when she was saved by two fellow marathoners.

She buckled, struggled to regain her posture and kept inching forward toward the 21km mark.

Noticing her distress, two men lifted her up by her arms and jogged with her. As her legs were about to give way, another runner approached and carried her across the line.

It's worthy to note that the good Samaritans were just seconds away from scoring a good timing, yet they chose empathy over a triumphant dash.

The entire episode which was caught on camera by FOX29, went viral as viewers applauded the men for their sportsmanship.

Have hope; chivalry is not yet dead.
