New York train derails, five cars on side: Fire Dept

NEW YORK - A commuter train bound for New York's Grand Central Station derailed in the Bronx Sunday with five cars falling onto their side, the city's Fire Department said on Twitter.

The accident occurred near Palisade Avenue near the Spuyten Duyvil railroad station, next to the Hudson River, the tweet said, without giving any details on casualties.

Local media reported that passengers had been injured but gave no details on whether the train was crowded or not when it derailed shortly after 7:00 am (1200 GMT).
