New Yorker jumps into runaway car to save kids inside

New Yorker David Cincotta decided to make a stop at a different gas station from his usual one recently and ended up saving kids in a car that was reversing onto a busy street.

According to an article on The Blaze, Cincotta had only planned a quick stop. However, he met his father in the store when he was paying and the pair started talking, which made him stay at the station longer than usual.

As time passed, a woman came into the store and chaos erupted from her car seconds later.

The woman had apparently left her car running, and one of her three young daughters had placed it in reverse.

Cincotta mentioned that the children were screaming and sounded "really, really scared".

The car was reversing and heading quickly towards the busy road in front of the station. Surveillance footage shows the woman and Cincotta running towards the vehicle.

The woman was knocked to the ground after opening the driver's side door. Fortunately, Cincotta was able to jump into the vehicle and stop it mere metres from the street.

Cincotta said the children were okay and started exchanging high fives while the woman was visibly shaken and crying in his arms.
