S'pore beat Malaysia in cricket thriller

SINGAPORE - Singapore beat Malaysia by 48 runs to make it a three-way fight at the top of the table in the World Cricket League Division 4 competition yesterday.

In a thrilling match at the Singapore Cricket Club, Singapore scored 208-9 in 50 overs and skittled out the Causeway nrighbours for 160 in 44 overs.

With the victory, the hosts, Malaysia and Denmark, who beat Singapore in the opening match, are tied with four points after three games.

Scores: Singapore 208-9 in 50 overs (C.Janik 49, R.Gaznavi 44; H. Ghulam 3-39, KHayat 2-32).

Malaysia 160 in 44 overs (N.Shafiq 69, S. Fetri 43 n.o., M. Dharmichand 2-28, C. Kumarage 2-10, A Singh 3-25).
