They threaten family with baseball bats

Robbers armed with baseball bats broke into Everton footballer Tom Cleverley's mansion in Manchester late last week.

At the time, the 26-year-old midfielder was at home with his reality TV star wife Georgina Dorsett, 29, and their two-year-old daughter, Mail Online reported.

After the robbers entered the £3.5 million (S$7.5 million) mansion, they demanded money and jewellery.

None of the family members was injured, reports said.

Birmingham Mail reported that there were two robbers and that they wanted to know where the couple kept their luxury items.

The former Manchester United midfielder, fearing for his family's lives, let the intruders leave with luxury goods and cars worth £175,000 (S$378,000).

The robbers took Dorsett's designer handbags, watches and jewellery. They then demanded the keys to the couple's two Range Rovers.

HORRIFIC

A source told The Sun: "Tom and Georgina weren't physically hurt, but it was a horrific ordeal for them - especially as their little girl was with them. The only thing in their minds was protecting her."

Even though they were unhurt, they are reportedly "shaken", reports said.

"This was a very, very nasty incident and the couple have been shaken beyond belief," the source was quoted as saying.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended and discovered a man, a woman and an infant who had been victims of an aggravated burglary."

The spokesman said that none of the victims was injured.

Greater Manchester Police said they were investigating the raid.

Cleverley and Dorsett were married this summer at a glitzy ceremony in Mayfair, London, with England captain Wayne Rooney among the guests.

Cleverley has been with the former reality star since 2012 and the couple had their first child, a daughter, Nevaeh, in June 2013.

They got engaged in the summer of last year during a trip to Las Vegas, after he proposed with a £20,000 ring.

Cleverley spent the last season on loan to Aston Villa from Manchester United and now plays for Everton.
