A huge blast rocked Kiev's Goloseevsky Avenue following an underground pipe rupture, Monday.
The pipe rupture was reportedly followed by the rush of water to the surface.
The incident damaged several cars and parts of a nearby house.
Public energy company 'Kyivenergo' reported that the testing of the pipe was planned and the pipe rupture was not foreseeable.
According to the Kiev Mine Action Service, the rupture occurred to a pipeline of 800 mm (31.4 inches) in diameter.
During the hydraulic tests, it was discovered that the cause of the incident was a debilitating section of the heating network, which has exceeded its 25-year usage norm.
