WATCH: Never flush these 8 things down your toilet

Are you guilty of tossing kitty litter, cotton swabs or clumps of hair down the toilet bowl?

Well even if you managed to flush it down the first time doesn't mean that it is not doing harm to your pipes.

Some seemingly harmless items like wet wipes do not disintegrate in water even though they are advertised as 'flushable', according to Bobvila.com.

So take a look at these unsinkable items to avoid the unthinkable mess that you could end up with if your toilet bowl clogs up.

Items to avoid are:

1. Wipes

Even if they say flushable, they will lead to clogs and back-ups.

2. Feminine hygiene products

Pads and tampons will expand when wet and they don't disintegrate.

3. Paper towels

They're more durable than toilet paper so won't break down.

4. Condoms

They won't deteriorate for years and will only lead to pipe issues.

5. Diapers

Even the smallest newborn size will immediately clog the toilet.

6. Cotton swabs

They easily get stuck in drain pipe bends, causing other things to back up.

7. Kitty litter

The clumping kinds are made of clay and sand that bind to moisture.

8. Hair

When you clean out your hair brush, throw it in the thrash instead.
