Woman denies blackmailing Man U player in scandal

A woman has been accused of trying to blackmail Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo over a one-night stand.

Rojo, 25, apparently had a tryst with fitness instructor Sarah Watson, 34, at a Christmas party, reported The Mirror.

He had approached the blonde at a Manchester bar and the two ended up at the flat of the player's friend.

The Argentinian then asked her to meet her again and sent her naked pictures of himself. She also sent him images.

Rojo has a child with his long-term partner Eugenia Kusardo, 22, a lingerie model.

DEMAND MONEY

His lawyers claimed Miss Watson demanded £100,000 (S$200,000) to keep quiet about their one-night stand, but that claim was thrown out at a hearing last month, reported the Sun on Sunday.

Miss Watson claimed it was his people who offered her the cash as hush money.

She told the Mail Online: "They tried to hoover it all away so no one would know, but you can't hoover up the truth, can you?"

Miss Watson said she had no idea the player was in a relationship.

Rojo had won a temporary injunction banning him from being named in the press.

But the court later ruled that the anonymity should be lifted and ordered him to pay the woman's cost, which are estimated to be between £25,000 and £50,000.
