1MDB audit report's OSA label to be lifted

KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee said the final audit report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) will no longer be classified as an official secret after being tabled in Parliament.

In a statement on Monday, PAC chairman Hasan Arifin (pic) said the report will remain under the Official Secrets Act only until it is tabled in Parliament.

"The final audit report on the fund management of 1MDB will no longer remain under the Act.

"The decision to classify the final audit report under OSA was made by Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang, who is responsible to ensure the credibility of the National Audit Department.

"This is to avoid the report from being disclosed to unwanted quarters," he added.

PAC member Tony Pua said investigations into 1MBD are not over yet.

Speaking to reporters after the tabling of the Auditor-General's final audit report on 1MDB to the committee, Pua said PAC had not done its part yet.

"We still haven't done our reports. We need to read the book and we haven't finished," he said.

Asked on whether more witnesses will be called, he said had yet to be discussed.

He also said that he was "reasonably happy" with the report so far.
