1MDB: We have not been contacted by any Swiss authority

PETALING JAYA - 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) has denied any knowledge of investigations by Switzerland's Office of the Attorney-General as reported in the media.

"1MDB has not been contacted by any Swiss authority but is ready to assist in any investigation if approached, subject to advice from the appropriate Malaysian authorities. We remain committed to fully co-operate with all lawful authorities that are currently investigating," it said in a statement issued yesterday.

Several news agencies reported on Friday that Switzerland's Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) had launched criminal proceedings against 1MDB.

The reports stated that 1MDB and an unknown person were being investigated for "suspected corruption of public foreign officials, dishonest management of public interests and money laundering".

An OAG spokesman was quoted as saying that the criminal proceedings followed two communications from the Money Laundering Reporting Office Switzerland.
