25 best restaurants in the world 2014

SINGAPORE - Nothing beats strong word-of-mouth reviews from regular dining patrons for a restaurant to experience a surge in popularity.

TripAdvisor released its list of Travellers' Choice for the top 25 restaurants across the globe two months ago, based on restaurant reviews on its website.

However, only one Asian country featured in the list at #21 - and no, it is not Japan, which many revere as a the food mecca of Asia.

Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality for restaurants worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period.

In total, 353 fine dining restaurant winners were identified this year. 

As 2014 to a close, here's a look at which restaurants made the cut for the top 25 restaurants in the world.
