3.1m-tall ice kacang enters Singapore Book of Records

SINGAPORE - A 3.1m-tall ice kacang has entered the Singapore Book of Records for being the highest to be built in the Republic.

The feat took two hours, 4,000kg of ice, and 16 chefs from Hotel Jen Orchardgateway to complete. The event, which was open to the public, was held yesterday and was also a fund-raising initiative for the hotel's newly adopted charity, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore.

Commercial scaffolding was used to hold the giant dessert in place for the safety of the chefs, Hotel Jen Orchardgateway said in a statement today. Communications manager Lau Ler Ling added that setting the new record was a "timely and meaningful present" that coincides with the hotel's first anniversary in September.
