$540k raised at FWAH

A total of $540,000 was raised by Football With a Heart (FWAH), a charity event co-organised by Singapore Pools together with its i-SHINE staff volunteers, the Football Association of Singapore and the Singapore Sports Council.

President Tony Tan Keng Yam last night presented cheques to nine beneficiaries, among them the Singapore Children's Society, Apex Harmony Lodge, Society for the Physically Disabled and SportCares Foundation.

It followed a five-a-side football tournament at the Jalan Besar Stadium last Saturday, featuring 700 footballers from over 40 organisations playing 201 matches during nine hours of competition.

Team OCBC won the championship trophy, Team Keppel lifted the Plate and Team Ernst and Young walked away with the Bowl. The sum raised for this year's event exceeded the target of $400,000.
