17-year-old serial molester nabbed

SINGAPORE - A 17-year-old believed to be responsible for a series of molest cases in the Jurong West housing estate has been nabbed by police.

Authorities suspect that several reports of modesty outrage between October 2010 and March 2011 were committed by the same culprit, who preyed on young girls aged between 11 and 13.

At 5.35pm yesterday, a member of the public called the police after he had detained the suspect, who had allegedly molested a 16-year-old female in the Jurong West Street 72 vicinity earlier.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested the teen, who later admitted to to have committed several cases of outrage of modesty in the Jurong West housing estate.

Investigations are still ongoing. The suspect will be charged in Court on May 21.

If convicted, he may be jailed up to 2 years; or fine and will also be liable for caning.
