Vendor in a coma after attack

KUALA LUMPUR - A 70-year-old newspaper vendor is in a coma after he was viciously hit on his head with a gas pump handle by a robber.

City deputy CID chief Asst Comm Khairy Ahrasa revealed the incident had occurred at 5.30am on Sunday at a petrol station along Jalan Priya 8, Taman Maluri, Cheras.

"The victim was pushed off his bike by the suspect, who grabbed the victim's pouch which contained RM20 (S$8).

"When he scolded the thief, he was hit with the gas pump handle.

"The suspect then fled on a motorcycle. The victim was taken to the HUKM hospital where doctors operated on his head injury," he said.
