Alcoholic kills wife, then stores body in the fridge

Malaysia Nanban reported a shocking incident where a 50-year-old unemployed alcoholic murdered his wife over a family squabble and kept the body in a refrigerator before committing suicide at Koodalpudur village, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

Police said Ravichandran had recently closed his handphone accessories shop due to heavy losses.

It was alleged that Ravichandran then started turning to alcohol to drown his sorrows. He had often quarrelled with his wife Shanthi, 41, since his business went sour, over money to buy liquor.

Police said there was a quarrel between the couple on Wednesday, during which Ravi-chandran slit Shanthi's throat and kept her body in the refrigerator.

When his daughter Rekha, 21, returned home in the evening and asked for her mother, Ravichandran said that she had gone out of town.

Two days after committing the murder, Ravichandran, who was depressed, slit his throat when his daughter was away.

He was rushed to the nearby government hospital where he was declared dead.

The police only recovered Shanthi's body from the refrigerator when they were carrying out investigations at the couple's home.
