PETALING JAYA, Malaysia: Wanita MCA chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun has resigned as executive chairman and board member of Tourism Ministry subsidiary Pempena Sdn Bhd effective immediately.

She said her resignation was to make way for Tourism Malaysia to move the company forward.

"I have completed the first phase of organisation restructuring, before moving into a longer period of second phase of organisation revamping," she wrote on her blog on Wednesday.

"With my appointment as MCA Wanita chief two months ago, I discovered that both MCA Wanita and Pempena required my dedicated time," she said, thanking Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman, the company's board and staff for their support and assistance.

Chew was appointed executive director of Pempena on May 2 and as executive chairman on Oct 1.

On Nov 19 last year, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police station against Pempena and the Tourism Ministry for alleged fraud, criminal breach of trust and abuse of power.

Pempena appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers Capital to undertake a business review of Pempena. -The Star / Asia News Network

"This is great to keep overseas Singaporeans connected to home news and affairs"

"My favourite was "The Aftermath for Malaysia Election" - (in my opinion), this was a very well crafted world standard image, it is even suitable for a Time magazine cover!"
