GEORGE TOWN - State PKR leaders have described the resignations of former Deputy Chief Minister I Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin and Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng a blessing, and the Youth wing wants to throw a kenduri to celebrate their departure.
"They have taken our "fat" away and now, we are leaner and stronger," state PKR liaison committee vice-chairman and state executive councillor Abdul Malik Abul Kassim.
"Fairus used to "sleep all the way" during meetings. He used to snore as well," Abdul Malik told reporters.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said Penangites had anticipated the latest resignations. He said their resignation had no impact on the people. Penang PKR chairman and Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman welcomed Tan's exit.
In Butterworth, PKR Youth exco member Amizudin Ahmat said the wing was surprised by Fairus' announcement that he resigned "in the interest of Islam" and over the "Allah" issue.
"If that is his actual reason, then what about the statement made by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz that the word "Allah" is allowed for non-Muslims in the Federal Territories, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak' Is he not aware of this?"
